When pioneers first settled the West, they had to be resourceful to survive the harsh winters and overcome the dry climate. They built their own homes, furniture and outbuildings, cutting and drying the timber and sawing it into boards. Many of those buildings still stand today as a testament to the ingenuity and skill that pioneers possessed. Today, we apply the same dedication to quality in all of our structures, cutting and processing the majority of our wood onsite.
Modern life may not require the same urgency when it comes to survival, but the spirit of the pioneer is still alive and well. Located deep in the heart of the Rocky Mountains of Montana, Frontier Rustic Designs strives to provide buildings for modern pioneers—fashioned from the highest—quality Montana-harvested woods and built to withstand even the harshest Winter storms.
A spirit of adventure and a passion for the outdoors brought Phil Nye and his family fromPennsylvania to the mountains of Montana.
Frontier Rustic Designs became a reality in 2004 when Phil and his wife Lisa opened the business in the town of Norris, Montana. There they sell outbuildings and furniture for the modernday pioneer—rustic yet sturdy and elegant.
Phil and his skilled craftsmen design and create quality buildings to enhance the rustic landscape of the West using woods native to Montana.
In addition to operating their business, Phil and Lisa stay busy raising their four growingsons and keeping livestock at their homestead.
